They Wait in the Dark

Amy, a young woman fleeing an abusive ex-girlfriend with her small son Adrian. They have to face the internal and external forces threatening them when the past returns to haunt them. This is a film about the scary and devastating way we often welcome the monsters we most fear. It’s indie horror done correctly, the type of horror film that takes chances and tries hard to give viewers something surprising.
Huesera: The Bone Woman

Valeria has long dreamed about becoming a mother. After learning that she’s pregnant, she expects to feel happy, yet something’s off. Huesera is one of the kind of breathtaking supernatural horror movies that is both captivating and horrifying, is not for those who are easily frightened.

Attachment

Leah, a Jewish academic from London, and Maja, a failed Danish actress, fall in love. As Leah had an unusual seizure, Maja goes back to London with her. She meets Chana, Leah’s mother, a woman who might be hiding something. Attachment is a lovely, beautifully portrayed love story with paranormal attributes, and it’s another illustration of improved horror cinematography that’s taking the genre to new, fascinating, and exciting areas.
M3GAN

The artificial intelligence marvel M3GAN is a lifelike doll that has been designed to be both a parent’s and child’s best friend. Gemma, a clever roboticist for a toy firm, created it. While she serves as a friend, teacher, playmate, and guardian for the child she is attached to, M3GAN is able to observe, listen, and learn. AI doll program: a choice with unthinkable implications.
Infinity Pool

On the imaginary island of La Tolqa, James and Em Foster are taking an all-inclusive beach holiday when a deadly accident reveals the resort’s perverse subculture of hedonistic tourism, reckless violence, and disturbing horrors. Infinity Pool is a superb piece of sarcastic horror with unforgettable neo-psychedelia scenes.
Sick

Sick is one of the best horror movies of 2023 that not only plays a role in this day’s COVID-era laws but also acts as a comical remnant for the communal fears that have gripped us over the last three years.
As the pandemic steadily brings the world to a halt, Parker and her best friend Miri decide to quarantine at the family lake house alone – or so they think.
The Offering

The son of a Jewish funeral director goes home with his expectant wife in the wake of the disappearance of a young Jewish girl in an effort to make peace with his father. They are unaware that an ancient evil with dark plans for the unborn kid is hiding inside a mystery body immediately beneath them in the family morgue. The narrative of The Offering is fairly standard, but the deeper aspects about religious beliefs and traditions provide richness to the creep-outs and jump-scares. The cultural distinctiveness of this horror film is what makes it so enjoyable.
The Outwaters

The movie “The Outwaters” tells a story about 4 travelers who encounter horrifying events while camping in a remote stretch of the Mojave Desert. It rewards patience and grants your mind the opportunity to wander. There is undoubtedly a lot going on here, none of which makes sense or can be explained, but that is the (terrifying) point.
Skinamarink

In the middle of the night, two kids discover that their father is gone and that their house’s windows and doors have all disappeared. Skinamarink recalls the instinctive horror of a kid seeing their familiar surroundings (house, toys, cartoons) transformed into something horrific when they wake in the middle of the night.
Knock at the Cabin

Four armed men kidnap a young girl and her parents while they are on vacation in a rural cabin and force them to make an impossible decision in order to stop the end of the world. The family must choose their beliefs before everything is gone because they have restricted contact to the outside world. The majority of “Knock at the Cabin’s” pleasures come from two sources: Shyamalan’s excellent direction and Bautista’s distinctive acting.
